Random thoughts on events...

I haven't posted in a while and I promised I would post with things I've been up to. This is going to be a really random and scattered post.

Reading - I finished the Unfortunate Series by Lemony Snicket. This is by far one of the most clever and interesting series I've ever read. Not withstanding JK Rowling's detailed study of mythology, it even beats the Potter series in terms of complexity, moral standing and creativity. I'm now reading Revelation Space - a great SciFi book. Thanks Hobe.

Travel - I hear about once a week now "Get out of the country!" You'd think I was some sort of terrorist with drug resistant tuberculosis. These are the declarations of my friends that know of my lust for Europe. Instead I've been doing small trips within the US: maryland, vegas, etc while there are people in my house. I leave for Europe on the 11th of July where I'll spend a few harrowing days in London recovering from jetlag and exposing my friend Sam to the wonders of THE abbey, THE museum and LHR. He'll at least enjoy the first two. I, however, am retarded with regards to scheduling. I scheduled this trip knowing the release date for HP and the Deathly Hallows. I shall miss my time-honored tradition of reading the books the day they come out at midnight until I fall asleep (see my sleep-deprived and deranged Book 5 and Book 6 commentaries). I'll either have to wait until I get back to England to pick up the book after it's released or find an HP fairy to ship it to me in Germany. Can I resist? Agh!

I've also scheduled two climbing trips: yosemite and red rocks, a disneyland trip in October and I'm on the verge of planning a trip to Paris in November for an acquaintance's exhibition at the Louvre. I'm running out of weekends! School starts Aug 22nd or so depending on whether I take a class on medieval history in film or Xtianity to the reformation.

I had to buy a new camera. It turns out that exposing the external ports of Sony Cybershots to water forces them to short. Who would have guessed? :(
